Rosette Project http://vincent.euverte.free.fr/Rosette/index.php?Lang=E&Style=_dark&Page=0 A site designed to use computing technology to assist with the reading and translation of hieroglyphs. The reads as follows: “What are we looking for with this project ? First to make this scripture readable to everyone in a pleasant manner ; but also to build a collection of all texts that we can find free of rights. Rosette started with a dream, and obviously evolved with time, but the original concepts are still in force: an assistance to the reader from the hieroglyph recognition in the original document, to the final interpretation of the text. We will never pretend that a computer may ever replace a human brain, but it can help him in many mechanistic and cumbersome tasks”. See the site for more information about its aims, and to play with some of the gadgets (also available in French). It may take a while to get a hang of the site, but it is certainly worth giving it a go. Three texts are currently available on the site, too.
